The Kayak Route
:  Paddle North to the tip of Long Point, turn East then paddle SE to the ICW (Intracoastal Waterway). Paddle SW in the ICW for 6 miles, back to the Take-Out.  Must be able to maintain 3 MPH while paddling. We will have at least 2, perhaps 3 rest stops. Spray skirts are definite. The path may be altered if winds hamper the original route. The distance will not be increased.

Long Point Route

Hazards:  We will be crossing and paddling along the Intracoastal Waterway with large boat traffic. Current in the ICW can intensify  choppy conditions.  There may be  a lot of recreational l boat traffic in East Galveston Bay. Oyster Reefs - These are both above and below the water. Submerged reefs can usually be seen as a darker area.  The boat ramp may be slippery.
