This is an ACA sanctioned event. All participants must wear a PFD. Non-HASK participants must sign a waiver. See all rules at the bottom of this page.

This course will focus on rescues in lumpy water.  I am hoping that conditions will not exceed L2 level, but we may need to improvise if conditions require.

All participants must use a spray skirt, and be able to do a wet exit with it on.  

Kayaks must have bow and stern bulkheads.  No kayaks will be allowed to participate if they only have a stern bulkhead.  Your kayak should have deck lines.  If your kayak does not qualify, please seek a loaner for this training.


Please arrive at Bayshore Park in time to be ready to launch at 9 AM.  We will start with a brief discussion of safety, conditions, agenda, etc. 

Final student numbers will depend on how may trainers I can get.  FOR SAFETY REASONS, IF I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH TRAINERS FOR ALL STUDENTS I MAY HAVE TO TAKE STUDENTS OFF, BASED ON REGISTRATION ORDER. I REALLY hope this will not be necessary.

Guests – You are welcome to join us for a couple of paddle trips.  HASK will cover the $5 ACA event membership for non-ACA members. Hopefully you will then join HASK and continue paddling with us.
