This "creek" is one of the few remaining unchannelized bayous in the region. The creek itself and the adjacent San Bernard National Wildlife Refuge provide habitat to numerous bird species including the scissor-tailed flycatcher and numerous shorebirds.

Hazards are wind, sun, bugs, oyster beds and possibly fishing boat traffic.  Bring hydration and maybe insect repellent. Pack a snack. Shoes with stout soles.  Just be looking for alligators OK?

This is an ACA sanctioned event. All participants in ACA-insured activities must wear properly-fitting U.S. Coast Guard-approved lifejackets (Personal Flotation Devices, or PFDs) at all times during on-water activities. Non-HASK participants must sign a waiver. See all rules at the bottom of this page.

Bobcat Woods Trail and Boardwalk 

  • Open Season: Year-round
  • Length: 2.5 miles (Don't have to do all 2.5 miles - CA)
  • Location of trail: Across from Moccasin Pond Loop
  • Surface: Accessible boardwalk and concrete walk
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Information: The loop trail includes a walk under riparian forest canopy and overlooking the Wolfweed Wetlands.
