Trip Description: Paddle 3.5 miles northward from BJ's Marina on the north end of Lake Houston, into the East Fork of the San Jacinto River. Round trip will be about 7 miles with a lunch stop on a sand bar.
Directions: Latitude 30° 3'32.41"N, Longitude 95° 7'55.18"W
From downtown Houston, drive 5.7 miles east on I-10.
Take US 90 E about 15.5 miles and take the Krenek Road exit toward Runneberg Road.
Turn left onto Krenek Road.
After 0.5 mile, turn right onto FM 2100 N/Crosby Lynchburg Road
This will also be called Avenue B and N Main Street.
after about 11.5 miles, turn left onto Huffman Cleveland Road/Wolf Road.
Turn left onto Magnolia Point Drive.
Continue on Reba Lane
Slight right onto Cheatam Road.
Turn right onto Calvin Road.
This is about an hour from downtown Houston.
Let's meet at 9:00 to launch at 9:30.
BJ's Marina has a CASH launch fee of about $5 per kayak. CASH
Hazards: The usual slippery boat ramps, snakes, alligators, mosquitos, fishhooks, corny jokes, etc. We may have some boat traffic, mostly small fishing boats. As always, dress for immersion and bring a dry spare set of clothes in case you or I get wet. The water and air are still cool. Bring lunch, water, and sunscreen.
There is some kind of restroom facility at BJ's. No promises on condition.
