About this event
Natalie Wiest has been paddling canoes and kayaks since at least 1970, including a 5 year stint from Knoxville TN where she ran a lot of wild whitewater and slalom races. She moved to Houston in 1981 and has been adapting to the waters here plus authoring "Canoeing and Kayaking Houston Waterways" guide book that was published by Texas A&M University Press in 2011.
Her good fortune in siblings includes my brother Randy who moved to Juneau, Alaska about the time she came to Houston and has since moved to Homer. That good fortune included several spectacular sea kayaking and camping experiences for me early on and Randy has continued in that vein every year.
Her presentation is actually his handiwork, photos from three of his recent trips plus some general Alaskan eye candy. The trips highlighted will be on Blackstone Bay in Prince William Sound, Resurrection Bay from Seward, and Cook Inlet paddles to Port Chatham and Chrome Bay.
