This level 1 trip will be about 7 - 8miles. Trip Description: We will meet at 9:00 AM, ready to launch by 9:30 AM, at the boat ramp on Hwy. 3, Dickinson, Texas. There are full bathroom facilities at Paul Hopkins Park on FM 517, on the way to the put-in. There usually is a porta-can at the put-in. We will paddle for about 7 miles, exploring Benson Bayou. We will get out at Paul Hopkins Park on the way back for a bio break and maybe lunch. Directions: Take I-45 South and exit FM 517. Take FM 517 East (to the left under the freeway). You will go over one little bayou, Paul Hopkins Park is on the right along both sides of the bayou (Lat 29°27'18.14"N Lon 95° 4'1.72"W). Restrooms are a short walk from the parking lot in the second (eastern) entrance to the park. Or if a porta potty will suffice, continue onward to Hwy 3, turn right and travel about 0.3 mile to 48th St. and turn right into the boat ramp area (Lat 29°27'25.34"N Lon 95° 2'53.02"W). This is an ACA sanctioned event. All participants in ACA-insured activities must wear properly-fitting U.S. Coast Guard-approved lifejackets (Personal Flotation Devices, or PFDs) at all times during on-water activities. Non-HASK participants must sign a waiver.
Waivers - Please complete our easy to use online waiver if you are a HASK member who has not signed a waiver within the last 12 months or a non- HASK participant. Read the waiver carefully. You give up substantial rights when you sign it.
